The Biosafety Cabinet (BSC) is an essential piece of laboratory equipment designed to provide a high level of containment when working with biohazards, sensitive samples, and hazardous materials. By creating a controlled environment, BSCs protect the operator, the product, and the surrounding workspace from potential contamination. These cabinets are widely used in laboratories, healthcare settings, and research facilities where handling pathogens, toxins, and sensitive biological materials is routine.
Biosafety Cabinets are classified into Class I, II, and III, with Class II being the most commonly used. They incorporate advanced airflow systems, precision-engineered filtration, and ergonomic designs to ensure optimal performance and operator comfort. With robust safety features and compliance with international biosafety standards, these cabinets are indispensable for maintaining workplace safety and experimental integrity.

What is bio safety cabinets?
Bio safety cabinets, also known as biological safety cabinets (BSCs), are specialized laboratory equipment designed to provide a sterile and controlled environment for working with hazardous biological materials. They help protect the user, the environment, and the samples being handled from potential biohazards such as infectious microorganisms, recombinant DNA, or other toxic biological agents.
There are three main classes of bio safety cabinets:
Class I: These cabinets provide product protection only, meaning they primarily safeguard the material inside the cabinet from environmental contamination. They do not offer significant protection to the user or the surrounding environment.
Class II: The most commonly used type, which comes in two subclasses:
Class II Type A: Provide personnel, environmental, and product protection by drawing air through a HEPA filter before it is exhausted or recirculated.
Class II Type B: Offer enhanced protection over Type A, often including more air exchanges per minute, and may include a built-in exhaust system to outside atmosphere.
Class III: Also known as glove boxes, these cabinets provide maximum protection by enclosing the workspace completely. Air is filtered both when entering and leaving the cabinet, providing complete protection for the operator and the environment. They are typically used for handling highly infectious agents that require the highest level of containment
